The Basics
The Dynaudio Contour 20 Black Edition is a traditional medium-sized ported two-way bookshelf speaker with a 7.1” mid/woofer and a 1.1” soft dome tweeter. Befitting the “Black Edition” name, the speaker sports a completely blacked-out motif, with a gloss black cabinet, black drivers, and a matte black aluminum front baffle.

The Rundown
It’s been 12 years since I last had the opportunity to review a Dynaudio speaker, so I approached the Contour 20 Black Edition with a mix of nostalgia and curiosity. I had the chance to listen to the original Contour 20i at a local dealer a few years ago, and I recall it being a refined, confident performer, one of those rare stand‑mounts that could project scale without sacrificing intimacy. But the Black Edition isn’t just a cosmetic refresh. It’s a deliberate exercise in trickle‑down engineering, borrowing key elements from the flagship Confidence series and re‑engineering the crossover, port, and driver assemblies to push the Contour platform further than it’s ever gone.
